*Sigh*
Having a really tough time dealing with life right now. When it rains, it pours right? Faith, hope and love are great, but it's hard to trust in those things to get you through sometimes. Of course, they always will, but still...... I need a better support system. Family who knows our circumstances and helps instead of criticizes would be good too. But what can I do? We don't have that. I wish there was someone I could trust and talk to.

Sharing my thoughts...
So we still have sickness here and it sucks...but oddly enough and pretty sadly, I am learning to live around it. With that said, I am blogging tonight about a movie I just saw.
I went to see this movie because 1) one of my favorite actors is in it and 2) it looked like a pretty good movie; like a romance/comedy/angsty drama. It was indeed all of the above and then at the end it was so much more, it was real life and real memories coming back to haunt me, to haunt everyone. (by the way, the movie is "Remember Me," so this is my official spoiler alert before you read on and find out what happens....if you want to see it and plan to see it, then do not ruin it for yourself!!)
So like I said, there was drama and some comedy and of course, romance. I laughed a lot, the whole theater did. I was loving it. Some bad things happened but you had the feeling it was going to work out, and of course it did. But somehow, I kept getting this feeling of dread. Things were coming together, the characters were contented and, well, real life happens....as it is apt to do from time to time. It was just so unexpected. Of course, now that I know what happens, there were many, many clues leading up to the ending. We learned that it was 2001, they went to see American Pie 2 in the theater, the father worked on wall street, and in the background former President Bush was giving a State of the Union address discussing stem cell research and such. So there were clues....but then you see the date on the chalkboard in the classroom and the main character looking out the windows of a very tall building on a gorgeous morning...the morning of Sept 11, 2001. At that point, the theater became absolutely silent. Just silence....then a lot of sniffling. We all knew what was coming. We saw some of the sights we saw on TV over nine years go- the ash falling from the sky, the police and firemen and rescue workers, the citizens of NYC standing stunned in the streets and finally the remains of the twin towers...which was, essentially, a lot of ash and debris. I don't know anyone who can't remember that day in detail. For me, I was working in Sanford, NC, an hour from home, at an opthalmologist's office. I went to call our next patient and everyone was staring at the TV in the waiting room. I honestly thought a movie was on....until I heard the reporters talking about what was occuring. I went back to the back of the office and started trying to call my husband knowing that if I didn't reach him right away there was no telling when I would be able to talk to him again. My husband was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC at that time and the post was immediately put on lockdown, but I was able to talk to him momentarily on his cell phone. Being in the 82nd Airborne division means you can go anywhere in the world within 24 hours. I was worried. I was in shock. And I was scared. At the end of the day driving home, we had to find a way around the main road that goes through Ft Bragg and that just terrified me more, made it more real to me for some reason. Just the fact that I didn't know which way to drive home. Once I did make it home I had to deal with a hysterical ex-wife calling to check on her baby-daddy...that was frustrating. Finally, late that night my husband came home. Many husbands didn't. Some still don't get to. All of these years later we are still losing people due to this tragic incident. Husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, friends.....so many have been lost. And for what? Hatred. That's really all it comes down to. Evil people full of hatred.
It upsets me that life goes on. I know it shouldn't, it's how we have survived this far through so many tragedies, but it still does upset me. How many people have forgotten? How often do we think of that day? How many people are praying for those nations and for all of the troops from all over the world still risking their lives every day? I hope people remember. I hate remembering but I don't ever want to forget. It hurts, but people from all walks of life have died...many on that day and many more since then.
I'm here, I am alive, and I am grateful. That was a wonderful movie......
